Signal and Noise
Get more out of life. Even the longest life ends. Our time on Earth is limited.
I think of it as land. Each step you take builds something, occupies space. Some things take more space than others, until there's no space left. When your land fills up, you can't build anymore.
Being intentional with what you build, regcognizing what's worthy of our focus is key. Our priorities.
In electronics, radios search for a frequency transmitting signal. Outside the signal it is all noise. If you are closer to the correct frequency, the more signal you get, but to hear if you're close you sometimes have to turn up the noise.
Our decisions are like a radio. We know the approximate frequency of what we want, but we have to leap and look for small signals that tell us we're on the right path.
Noise is the trivial, day to day stuff. What looks like it doesn't matter. We ignore this majority. But there's the secret: the signal is hidden in the noise. Paying attention, being present with everything that happens in your life, your day to day stuff is what will make you happier. The details.
If we're only present in the signal, the parties, the wins, we are missing out on life.
Listening to this signals can be hard, but you can make it easier by keeping a diary, writing a blog, twitting, recording audios, etc. Reviewing your life can give you lots of (pleasant) surprises.
When you percieve signal, register it. All that valuable information. If you don't, you'll lose it. Trust me.
Register what happens in your life, that'll allow you to curate and choose what you want to build in your 70^[2] meters of land we call life.
