Pushing Your Limits
A man can push through hell, but he can only do it to get out of it.
We can push our limits, be uncomfortable, but only for a limited period of time. One of my notes on antifragility is that "an organic system benefits from a big stressor followed by a period of recovery".
Imagine you hate running. And I tell you you'll run all your life from now on. I think you'd rather die. However, if I told you that after 20 minutes of running your life will be better, you won't want to die. At least not after the 20 minutes have ended.
It is in this way we can leverage our discomfort. Training ourselves to be comfortably uncomfortable.
I believe that pushing limits is cool. More than cool, it's necessary. Knowing yourself. Living, experimenting, trying. It's not about doing it all the time, but doing it consistently enough that you get the benefits of an uncomfortable lifestyle.
